Meet Our Pastor

Michael Friday recently joined us at New Life Baptist Church, and we have seen several signs that confirm again and again that God brought us together as ministry partners, despite the huge distance between either of our origins. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, the southernmost islands of the Caribbean, he attended seminary in Jamaica, and served Baptist Churches in the Caribbean for 18 years before serving the American Baptist Churches of Connecticut, as pastor, church-plant explorer and on their Board of Managers. A graduate of the University of the West Indies (1983) and the United Theological College of the West Indies (1983), he read for the Master of Philosophy in Theology submitting in 2001, a thesis entitled, "Survival Issues for the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship". Having recently completed a doctoral thesis at the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts, he is set to graduate in the spring of 2007. Michael has been the featured preacher in Bible, Missions and Evangelistic Conferences and Conventions in several of the Caribbean islands and in states along the eastern seaboard and the mid-west. He preached his first sermon when he was 13 years old and he has been married to Vivienne since 1983.

Using your gifts, talents and abilities

Here at New Life, we have organized ourselves in the way we believe best mobilizes all of us for ministry. We offer training for people to discover the gifts, talents and abilites that the Holy Spirit has blessed them with. Then we encourage every one to engage in a ministry that will best utilize those gifts. Below is a list of some of the current ministry opportunities that are available at New Life. We say "current" because we regularly include new ministries as persons are gifted. We are committed to the conviction that the church is obligated to facilitate all people who are gifted by the Spirit and who wish to serve God, to serve God with their gifts and abilities. This is how we catch the vision... this is how we catch the Spriit! If you would like more information on how you can serve, please feel free to contact the church office for more information.
